Porvoo is the second oldest city in Finland.There are many Finnish artists who’ve called Porvoo their home.Porvoo considered to be the most beautiful city in Finland. The beautiful town is filled with colourful houses that look like doll houses.
Porvoo in Swedish Borgå is a city and a municipality situated on the southern coast of Finland approximately 50 kilometres east of capital of Finland Helsinki. It is one of the six medieval towns in Finland, City in texts from the 14th century. Porvoo is the seat of the Swedish-speaking population near the Capital of Helsinki.Finnish and Swedish are the official languages in Porvoo.
The Porvoo Old Town is a popular tourist destination, known for its well-preserved 18th and 19th century buildings and 15th century cathedral, the Porvoo Cathedral.
Restaurants and cafes are just some of the things that you can visit while in Porvoo.The old town of Porvoo is small enough to explore on foot in less than a day.
Climate
Porvoo has a humid continental climate. Owing to the mitigating influence of the Baltic Sea and North Atlantic Current, temperatures during the winter are higher than the northern Finland might suggest, with the average in January and February around −7 °C (23 °F).
Winters in Porvoo are notably warmer than in the north of Finland, and the snow season is much shorter, due to it being in extreme Southern Finland and the heat island effect. Temperatures below −20 °C (−4 °F) occur a few times a year at most. However, because of the latitude, days last 5 hours and 48 minutes around the winter solstice with very low sun, and the cloudy weather at this time of year exacerbates darkness. Conversely, Porvoo enjoys long daylight during the summer; during the summer solstice, days last 18 hours and 57 minutes.
Transport
You can also travel by Boat from Helsinki to Porvoo or by OnniBus, Matkahuolto Service or Train, Porvoo city has an efficient public transport system.
The Porvoo railway station does not have a regular train service, but special museum trains from Kerava (either with steam locomotives or former VR diesel railcars from the 1950s) operate on summer weekends.
Art and Culture
The Porvoo Museum is a historical and an art museum located beside the Old Town Hall in the heart of the oldest part of Porvoo.
Runeberg museo -Porvoo is also famous as the home of the Finnish national poet, Johan Ludvig Runeberg. He and his wife lived in their house in Porvoo from 1852 until his death in 1877. Their home was opened to the public in 1882, and is the oldest home museum in Finland.

To do and Visit
Walk down to the banks of the Porvoonjoki river to stand across the famous red houses of Porvoo. Go around Porvoo Old Town. These red coloured wooden storage houses are a proposed UNESCO world heritage site.
Finns in Helsinki said that over the years, they traveled all the way from Helsinki to visit Porvoo’s cafes and restaurants in the summer. There is a variety of restaurants, bars and cafes by the riverbank and around the city.But whichever cafe you pick, make sure that you order Porvoo’s famous pastry Runeberg torte.
